Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has facilitated with Muslims across Delta State and Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration, urging them to uphold the virtues of peace, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
Dafinone, in a goodwill message marking the commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad, called on Nigerians to draw inspiration from the Prophet’s teachings and exemplary life, particularly his virtues of compassion, humility, sacrifice, tolerance and service to humanity.
He said the celebration offered an important opportunity for Muslims and other Nigerians to reflect on the values that promote harmony, justice and peaceful coexistence in society.
According to him, “These timeless values remain essential to building a just, harmonious and prosperous society.”
The senator urged Muslim faithful to remain committed to promoting peace, unity, mutual understanding and respect for people of other faiths and backgrounds, stressing that Nigeria could only overcome its challenges through collective efforts.
He said, “At a time when our nation needs greater cohesion, we must all work together to strengthen the bonds that unite us rather than dwell on the differences that divide us.”
Dafinone further urged Nigerians to look beyond religious, ethnic and political affiliations, saying the country’s shared destiny required citizens to embrace tolerance, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.
“Beyond our religious, ethnic and political affiliations, we are first and foremost Nigerians with a shared destiny,” he said.
He expressed optimism that the Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration would usher in renewed hope, peace and prosperity for Nigerians, while calling for continued prayers for the nation’s leaders and communities.
Dafinone prayed that Almighty Allah would continue to guide the nation’s leaders with wisdom, protect communities and grant Delta State and Nigeria greater stability, progress and prosperity.
He wished Muslim faithful across the country a peaceful, joyous and spiritually rewarding Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.
